I wasn’t sure if we were going to squeeze in the Unplugged ‘Thin’ Challenge this week but I managed to come up with something super quick and easy. We made collages by cutting old magazines and catalogs into thin strips. The older two kiddos enjoyed the cutting process and the youngest the gluing. They were only willing to spend about 10-15 minutes on the project though… wanting to get back to playing cards with Grandma and Grandpa.

That’s a nice project. The paper strips would make a lovely addition to an art material box. Weaving them would be fun too.

Simple projects are sometimes the best ones. I’ve had projects that I thought didn’t go over well because my daughter spent so little time doing them – only for her to ask to do them again on a later date.
what a great idea for a “thin” interpretation… I like this one.. except I dont buy magazines or get junk mail… I will have to go searching in the street for some 🙂
That’s a lot of cutting! As they get older I can see this project turning into something much more elaborate. Nice way to recycle, reuse and repurpose old maps, grocery bags and the Sunday Funnies!
Bobbie… how do you not get junk mail? I’m sure a neighbor would be happy to hand some off.
I agree that simple projects are sometimes the best. My kids were very distracted by all the commotion of the weekend more than anything.
Playing cards with grandma and grandma is always more fun. They did a great job on their project though.
